Our Mission
Our Mission
Ready Set Rescue is a nonprofit animal rescue and educational organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, responsible placement, and long-term care of all animals in need. Our work includes reptiles, exotic animals, birds, small mammals, and felines, with an emphasis on proper husbandry, animal welfare, responsible ownership, and individualized care.
Through adoption, surrender support, community outreach, educational programs, and Critter Worx, we help connect people with animals in a way that encourages compassion, respect, and a better understanding of their needs. Our goal is not only to give animals a second chance, but also to help prevent future neglect and improper care through education and responsible animal stewardship.

Giving Animals a Second Chance — and Our Community a Chance to Learn
Ready Set Rescue is an Amarillo-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to animal rescue, rehabilitation, responsible care, welfare, and education.
Our work includes reptiles, exotic animals, birds, small mammals, and felines in need, along with permanent animal ambassadors who help us teach our community about compassion, conservation, and responsible animal ownership.
Every animal has a story. Whether an animal is preparing for adoption, recovering from neglect, being surrendered because its family can no longer provide appropriate care, or finding a permanent home within our ambassador program, our goal remains the same:
Provide the care they need while helping people better understand the animals we share our world with.

A Wild Encounter — Powered by Ready Set Rescue
Located inside Westgate Mall in Amarillo, Critter Worx brings animal education, rescue stories, and unforgettable encounters together in one family-friendly experience.
Meet reptiles, birds, mammals, and other unique animal ambassadors while learning about their individual stories, natural behaviors, care requirements, and the responsibility that comes with sharing our lives with animals.
Critter Worx is also a fundraiser for Ready Set Rescue.
Every admission, membership, donation, and purchase helps support the animals in our care and the rescue work happening behind the scenes.
Animal Welfare Comes First
Animal Welfare Comes First
Interactions are always based on the individual animal.
Animals are given regular breaks and reduced-handling days, and they are never required to participate in guest interactions. If an animal shows signs that it needs rest or space, our team removes it from handling.
A great encounter should be positive for both the person and the animal.

More Than Rescue
More Than Rescue
Some animals come to us after neglect, improper care, medical problems, or when their families can no longer meet their needs.
Others become permanent residents and educational ambassadors.
Through Ready Set Rescue and Critter Worx, these animals help teach our community about responsible ownership, proper husbandry, animal welfare, and respect for species that are often misunderstood.
Your donation doesn't only help an animal today — it helps us create better outcomes for animals in the future through education.
